Selena Lucas
Selena was born and raised in Harlem, New York City. Selena attended progressive elementary, high and university institutions in Manhattan. Selena is the proud mother of two sons who are both growing up in Placencia. Selena’s combination of a Master’s in Social Work and Public Policy gives her a unique outlook on school leadership. She is excited and honored to have an opportunity to contribute towards high quality, child-centered education in Placencia. Selena is the founder and leader of PIA.

Loretta Logan
Loretta was born and raised in Independence Village, Stann Creek District. Loretta graduated from Independence Junior College as Valedictorian in 2010. Later she moved to Belmopan City, Belize’s capital, to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Resources Management. Soon after, Loretta obtained a scholarship to pursue a Master’s Degree in Sustainable Natural Resources Management at the United Nations mandated University for Peace in Costa Rica. Ms. Logan is the guardian of Evelyn, who is entering her second year in the EC classroom.

Reuben Cal
Reuben Cal is finishing his third year at PIA. He has held increasing levels of responsibility at PIA. This year he will be assisting in the Computer Lab, in classrooms and managing the facility needs. His son, Wilburt, begins his first year at PIA in the EC classroom.

Maryce Rivers
Maryce Rivers is a Belizean originally from Independence but is now residing in Placencia Village. She attended Independece High School where she majored in Science. She then moved on to Independence Junior college where she earned her Associates Degree in Biology. Maryce is a proud mother of 2 sons, the oldest attending PIA in the EC classroom.

Kirwin Ramirez
Kirwin Ramirez is a youth worker extrodinare from Seine Bight. Mr. Ramirez has worked with PIA for four years. Kirwin is a naturally talented and motivated youth leader that encourages students to take a leadership role. Kirwin loves music and sports, and his motto is, “Giving up is NOT an option”. He provides all PE classes and assists with trips and events.

Shelly Redden
Shelly Redden is a US citizen with extensive experience in Southern Belize, having taught in Sittee River and Dangriga. As a highly trained progressive, student centered teacher, Ms. Redden is an exciting new addition to PIA’s staff. Ms. Redden has a Masters’ in Teaching.

Carly DiBrita
Carly DeBrita is Canadian, in her second year of teaching at PIA. She is originally from Canada. Her background includes a BA in Childhood and Social Institutions graduating with distinction, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Education, grades 1-9, with focus on English Language Arts and ESL (English as a Second Language). Carly has taught a variety of age groups from Kinder-Adults in Thailand, Canada, Australia and Belize. She is extremely passionate about all of her students and their ability to succeed.

Kendra Muschamp
Kendra Muschamp is from Independence Village. This is her third year with PIA. She brings high student behavioral expectations, willing hands and an engaging laugh! In addition to her classroom and outside supervision responsibilities, Ms. Muschamp will be attending every PE session and assisting Mr. Ramirez.

Simone August
Simone August grew up in Willows Bank Village, Belize District, and attended primary school in the neighboring village. She then went on to pursue her high school and 6th form education in Belize City, at Canaan S.D.A. and SJCJC, respectively. After her associates degree in Biology and Chemistry at SJCJC, she went on to the University of Belize, attaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology Education. Simone has now moved to Placencia Village, with her family, to be a part of the PIA team. She has brought her willingness and drive to promote the goals and mission of the school.
